EDWARD LAU – BOARD CHAIR

Edward, married to Circle, has a daughter attending ICHK Kindergarten and Primary. Edward grew up in Hong Kong and received tertiary education in England. He worked and practised as an accountant in London before returning to Hong Kong to work as chief finance officer in various companies of different sizes and businesses, one of which was eventually listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Other than his every day routines including tax, accounting and auditing by his profession, Edward is currently working for his own company in business and corporate services.

Edward is a practising member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a fellow member of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong.

Edward is an enthusiastic fan of sports cars and enjoys driving. He also enjoys gardening.

PAULINE CHAN – VICE-CHAIR

Pauline was born and raised locally in Hong Kong,  and is married to her middle school schoolmate, Justin Cheung who returned to Hong Kong after studying abroad in Seattle, USA.

Before 2019, Pauline was a dedicated Human Resource professional for 18 years, serving various international companies as well as a non-profit gemological institute. She was part of the Executive Team managing Hong Kong School and Laboratory of Gemological Institute of America for eight years, responsible for Human Resource, Information Technology, Security, Administration & Facilities as well as leading Client Services projects and multi-million US dollars Laboratory renovations and relocations projects.

Pauline enjoys reading, gardening and playing basketball and football with Kyle. She also does a little HR consulting work for Justin’s construction business in China and Hong Kong.

TOBY NEWTON

Toby is the Head of ICHK Secondary. He has worked in senior leadership in schools since 2002, initially in London and, since 2008, in Hong Kong. He joined ICHK as Deputy Head in 2012 and acted as Head of School for a year and a half before making the move permanent in 2016.

Toby has been at the forefront of innovation around curriculum and pedagogy throughout his teaching career. He was Assistant Principal Examiner for Media Studies at AQA between 2004 to 2008, where he was responsible for developing academic and vocational courses and leading teams of examiners. While an Assistant Head in London, he wrote a new “learning to learn” course, widely feted by the local education authority, and which has been built on at his subsequent schools.

At ICHK, Toby continues this focus on developing a truly 21st century education, supportive of learning for all students in a rapidly changing world, in which qualities of character and self-belief are so central to success.

SHAY TRAITTEL

Shay is originally from Israel, married to Sandra Traittel and has two boys, Guy and Tom, who are attending ICHK Primary.

Shay is General Manager and shareholder of Sudtech Ltd, an international manufacturer of power supply technologies. Since 2001 Shay and his partners have built an enviable reputation as leading suppliers to some of the most recognised brands in the global electronics industry. As a successful entrepreneur with decades of cutting edge engineering expertise, Shay is both a commercially astute business leader and a highly practical innovator.

DR SAMMY LEE

Dr S Lee, born in Hong Kong, was brought up and has lived in the UK for over twenty years. He has a doctoral degree in IT. He has over twenty-five years of work experience in the IT related fields, over twenty of which has been based in HK.

He likes to join the school as a board member so that he can continue his passionate support, as he has been giving in recent years, in broader terms in the IT, Buildings, Staff Management and Community areas. He is currently working for a US manufacturer of cabling systems as the Country Manager for Apac, promoting his company’s products to the airport, MTR, schools, hotels and casinos to name but a few.

When he gets some quiet moments to himself, he likes to take landscape photos with old and obsolete medium format cameras, and occasionally take time off to go skiing and scuba diving.

DANIEL SERJEANT

Dan is a British national and moved to Hong Kong in 2014 having previously worked in Singapore and the UK.

Dan currently leads a trading desk at an investment bank and has been working in the industry since 2008 in various roles.

Outside of work, Dan is a family man with a wife and two children who go to ICHK Primary.  He enjoys staying active by hitting the gym, playing poker, dabbling in computer programming, and trying his hand at fishing (with limited success!).

Dan is looking forward to contributing his knowledge, skills and experience to serve the school community. He is also looking forward to gaining a greater insight into the educational system to discover new ways to support student success.

DAVID TANG

David Tang was born in Taiwan and grew up in Hong Kong. He studied in the US and Australia.  He worked in the SME department in Australian Bank and served as secretary of the Australian Chinese Charity Foundation in the early 2000s. David was awarded Justice of Peace in NSW Australia for his contribution to the community.

After his return to Hong Kong, David was an Executive Director of a listed company for many years before starting up his own companies in Hong Kong and factories in China.

David identifies with the mission of the school, he likes to join the Board as a member and share his knowledge and experience to assist ICHK in becoming a happier and greater school.

ANTHONY CHAN 

Anthony was born in Hong Kong and graduated from the University of British Columbia in Canada. His daughter is happily studying in ICHK primary.

Anthony has been working in the construction industry for over 12 years. He is currently the managing director of Kwan Lee Holding Ltd, a well-recognized company that undertakes large scale construction projects.

Anthony is also the honorary chairman of Hong Kong Construction Association’s Young Members Society and the Anthony is the Chairperson of Hong Kong Institute of Constuction’s STEAM Alliance helping to promote STEM education to secondary school students.

His volunteer work also extends to working with Lifewire and NGO that raises funds to provide medical needs for children with rare diseases.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball. Anthony’s goal for being on the Board, is to help promote ICHK’s culture while assisting in sustaining the school’s values.

GAVIN TSUI

Dr. Gavin C. Tsui is a chemistry professor at CUHK. His daughter is attending ICHK Primary. Gavin received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Canada and postdoctoral training at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Germany. He has had global working experiences in both academic and industrial sectors in Canada, Japan and Germany.

Gavin is a keen educator for science, he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate classes and gives invited lectures at local and foreign universities regularly. Each year he offers summer courses through the Science Academy for Young Talent to local secondary students and gives public lectures about the impact of science on human history. He is currently a member of the departmental board, sports committee at the New Asia College and advisory board of an international scientific journal.

In his spare time, he loves to travel around the world with his family.

ANJELICA TANG 

Anjelica is a Hong Kong national. She has been practising as a Solicitor in Hong Kong for over 14 years and is a Partner of law firm. She is also working towards becoming a dual-qualified lawyer in England and Wales.

In her spare time, her hobbies include playing drums, yoga and Boxing.

She is passionate about the school, and was very taken by the positive school community vibe the first moment she visited. She is very proud to be part of this  happy, and close knit environment where everyone is encouraging and supportive to one another.

Anjelica is dedicated to lending her time and efforts to better understand the needs of the community and to support the work of the sustainability of the school through the work of the Board of Governors.

GUILLAUME BAR

Guillaume is a French national who relocated to Hong Kong in 2017, together with his wife Claire who is a language teacher at an International School in Hong Kong.

He is a seasoned professional in banking and financial markets with over a decade’s experience in the industry. As a proud and happy father of two, his son attends ICHK Primary and daughter will soon join the school.

Outside of work, Guillaume is passionate for sport, including football, martial arts, snowboarding, he is the coach lead of the U6’s Flying Kukris Rugby Team. Not to mention a motorcycle enthusiast and a vintage wine investor.

The welcoming and caring nature of the ICHK community has played a major role for the wellbeing of Guillaume and his family

Guillaume believes that ICHK and the PYP curriculum has really put the happiness and development of his children at the core on becoming global citizens of a world that will need more knowledge, care and solidarity for the future.

Guillaume is on the Finance Subcommittee to serve the school community and play his part for the sustainability and the continuous development of the vision of the school.
